In the 1960's Pipe Major Fergus
Mathieson established the Boys Band as a "feeder" unit for the
Senior Band. At about this time, female members also began to join
both bands. Over the years the Boys Band has been known by a number
of names, including the Junior Band and the No. 2 Band. The Band is now known as City of Dunedin Scotia Pipe Band.
This band is a competitive band in Grade 4 and is a frequent sight
around the city at a variety of parades and activities.
